Tanzania e-Visa: the complete guide
A Serengeti safari or a Zanzibar beach — both are Tanzania, and both need an electronic visa filed in advance. The part that surprises travellers most is the vaccination rule.
One visa for Tanzania and Zanzibar
Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, so the same visa covers both — no separate visa is needed. Zanzibar does, however, sometimes require local travel insurance on arrival, paid separately on the spot.
Yellow fever — when it is mandatory
Tanzania requires a yellow fever certificate from travellers arriving from a country where the disease is endemic, or who transited one for more than 12 hours. A direct flight usually means no certificate is needed; a stop in Ethiopia, Kenya or Rwanda may change that. It depends on the exact route, which is why we check it before filing.
